We’ve built a platform that connects a smartphone, diagnostic devices and a doctor in real time. Now, for the first time in the world, this entire setup is packaged for consumer use. All you need at home is a smartphone and the Omply app, available for download in app stores. Through the app, patients can connect with a doctor via a live, secure video call. During the appointment, the doctor can use a range of diagnostic devices that make remote care clinically reliable.
Core devices enabling remote examination:
- Otoscope: Provides a clear view of the ear canal and eardrum, allowing detection of conditions like middle ear infections, outer ear inflammation and common childhood ear infections.
- Digital stethoscope: Transmits heart and lung sounds in real time. It helps detect wheezing, crackles or heart murmurs and supports diagnosis of pneumonia, asthma, arrhythmias and heart failure.
- Pulse oximeter: Measures oxygen saturation and heart rate. Crucial for evaluating respiratory symptoms in conditions such as COPD, asthma and acute infections, and for monitoring the impact of COVID-19 or influenza on breathing.
- Blood pressure monitor: Sends blood pressure and pulse readings to the doctor, helping assess causes of dizziness or headaches. It’s key in monitoring and preventing cardiovascular diseases like hypertension.
- Digital thermometer: Provides an accurate temperature reading, essential for assessing the severity of symptoms. It’s valuable in tracking infections such as flu, urinary tract infections and other bacterial or viral illnesses.
- Smartphone camera: Enables visual assessment of rashes, moles and throats, supporting detection of conditions like tonsillitis, pharyngitis, eczema, allergic reactions and potential skin cancer risk changes.
Not all of these devices are required; users can choose the combination that best suits themselves or their family. The Omply platform is also scalable as in the near future, it can integrate wellness tracking, home tests and new diagnostic tools, constantly expanding its capabilities.
What does this look like for doctors?
All a doctor needs is a computer, a camera, headphones and an internet connection. They can work from home, the clinic, or even a summer cabin, while the patient may be on the other side of the world. The examination still happens in real time and with the same clinical accuracy as in person.
No traveling, no queues, no waiting rooms just saved time, effort and costs for both patient and doctor. Omply is redefining what it means to visit a doctor. It’s exciting to be part of building this change.
